Bunny pillow pattern

My new bunny pillow pdf pattern is here! It's super cute and easy to make!

A wonderful gift for a new born, birthday or even make them as Easter gifts. Rather than 'bon nuit' you could stamp or embroider the child's name to make it a more personal gift.

I made them in soft pretty colours but they also look fabulous in bright, cheery colours! To adapt the pattern for a boy applique stars rather than flowers!

The pattern can be enlarged to make a larger pillow or reduced to make a smaller bunny, fill it with lavender! It could also be appliqued onto a quilt or bag. It's such a versatile pattern!

Labour of love!

As my daughter is finishing elementary school and moving onto middle school the other mother's in her class asked if I would make some cushion for their teachers. Of I said yes with great pleasure!

On one side they are embroidered with the kid's names - 20 of them. There are 3 teachers so 3 cushions and 60 names to embroider! I methodically worked through the embroidery, it took forever! To give you an idea a 5 letter name took approximately 1 hour! I used a gorgeous antique handwove hemp as the base.

Recently I've also been madly buying vintage and antique French and English floral fabrics. Just love those! So I decidied to to include a little on the reverse side. The colours in the fabrics worked well with the colours I used to embroider the names.

Finally I was also asked to embroider a quote for the teachers as well. I did this on vintage doilies which I stitched in the center.

I will certainly say these gift were a labour of love!

Re-purposing vintage linen

I love some many different styles. I love my Kanthas, I love vintage, I love French style, I love kid’s style! So many I know it can be very confusing!

The result is I go through phases, one day I’m inspired by one style and the next something totally different so I just have to go with the flow. Keeps things interesting!

When I went to the antique market I found a gorgeous vintage hand embroidered linen tablecloth. About 10 days ago I pulled it out and proceeded to make a series of items with different parts of it. I love them!

Pillow slips with the larger embroidery. Available in my shop here
Sweet pouches. Available in my shop here
Gorgeous lavender sachets filled with wonderful lavender bought in Aix en Provence last time I was there. Very special!

Market bag made with antique handwoven hemp and vintage applique Available in my shop here

Kantha love continues!

My love of vintage kantha quilts grows and grows. I think they are wonderful full of history and love, pain stakingly hand quilted! I have many quilts and some of them I love to use to create new useful items. I recently made these bags which I’m thrilled about.

The first is a shoulder bag, great to use as a market bag, book bag, tote, sewing bag and so on. It’s completely reversible with no exposed seams. Both sides are shown here. Available in my shop here.
The second is a shoulder bag with zipper closure. Great to use as a handbags, knottin bag, sewing bag, diaper bag or even as a small overnight bag. Available in my shop here.
I also recently made some reversible cushion slips with zipper closures. Both sides are photographed. I need some for my couch, they are so comfy! Available in my shop here and here.

More Kantha makings

I forgot to mention in my previous post that these bags are so versatile you can use them as lingerie bags, cosmetic bags, hair accessories bags, sewing bags, knitting bags and even in the kitchen to store plastic shopping bags, potatoes, bread and so on.

This bag was made with strips of different fabrics woven together.

Above are a patchwork drawstring and zipper pouch made with kantha remnants.

Finally I also made a few cushions, some are already sold.
