Tea baskets

My friend loves her herbal teas and she especially loves to pull them out when people visit! She was wondering how best to serve them and had an extra metal rack so I told her i could make fabric baskets to fit. This way she just pulls them out, puts them on the table and her guests can select their tea!

I was definitely inspired by the Japanese zakka style for these. It's a great way to use up small pieces of fabric too. I don't know about anyone else but my pile of 'smaller' pieces (don't like calling them scraps because so many are lovely) seems to grow not diminish even though I use them everywhere!!

  1. Eeeeek! Those are zakka and a half! Really, really charming. Your friend is lucky!

I use my tiny scraps for quilt as you go bags, which I find fun to sew, and so relaxing...like this one:

With your eye for making zakka, you could knock it out of the park with your scraps making purses or totes.

Thanks for sharing your creativity here and on Flickr!
