Hedgehog messenger bag

This messenger bag is so cute. It's made with antique Italian hemp linen and cotton fabrics. It's large enough to carry around books or even to use as a nappy bag, gym bag and so on. It is hand appliqued and hand embroidered. Inside there are 3 pockets in a contrasting fabric to the dusky pink linen lining.

Hand embroidered cushions

First of Merry Christmas to everyone, I hope all had a great day!

Even though it was Christmas I have contonued to sew. I made these cushions for my mother in law as she needed new ones for her couch. They are very special as I used her antique cotton sheets which were hand woven by her grandmother! I appliqued some fabric from the gorgeous new Moda 'Etchings' range. I placed a vintage doilie over the top and then embroidered two simple designs. I think she was very happy with them!

New matryoshka bags

Lucy went to a few birthdays last weekend so I decided to make the girls bags to go with their present. I thought it was a good idea to make another 2 for my shop. The bags are made with cotton and linen fabrics. They are appliqued with fabric and felt embellishment.

Christmas Bunting

Here are a couple of photos of our finished bunting for Christmas. It is now hanging across my living room window. There are more photos of each flag on Flickr.

Sewing for Christmas

I am on holidays so spent a little time changing the look of our blog. I hope Rach likes it. It's nice to have a change every now and then!

I made this Santa Stocking for a friend's little boy. She is collecting it tomorrow so I hope that she likes it!!

Mum and I have also been making some Christmas bunting inspired by some that we saw at the shop Material Obsession. We each made five flags and you can really tell who did which one as we have very different styles. The photo below is a sneak peak of my favourite one that I made. I really like the colours. I will blog the whole thing once I have finished making it up.

A few things I've been making!

I made 3 pouches for my friend to give as gifts and a new Christmas decoration which I gave to her as well. She has a very large tree which has many empty spaces!!

I aslo finished off this sewing pouch. I made it with antique linen and trim. Inside I stitched in a pin cushion and a few pockets to carry things around, like a small hoop, trims, scissors, and so on. I sent this to my mum as an extra gift because I know she loves that kind of thing.

Christmas gift bags

Here a few Christmas gift bags I made the other day. I still can't get my head around who I need to give gifts to! Oh well at least I've started to make a few things so it may not be such a rush.

These bags are entirely hand sewn in wool felt. I'm wondering what I'll put in them!!!

I also made these storage baskets from antique hand woven cotton fabric. They are very simple and could make for great gift for Lulu's teachers. I may put chocolates and other goodies in them. They are also great to use on the table with nuts in them, or bread , danish and so on.

I know today is my 'published in' day!! Modern Blocks is now available in bookstores and on Amazon. I have 2 blocks featured in the book which I wanted to share with you. So exciting to be in print I really can't quite believe it.

There are certainly more I love in the book but you'll just have to purchase it to see!!!!!

I know I mentioned earlier that I've been published in this wonderful book, but I just had to say it will be out next month! I can't wait to see the book and start sewing some of the gorgeous projects in it. Many of my most favourite creative bloggers are in it!

Applique pouches/pencil cases

I made these pretty pouches yesterday. I love making these they're so much fun. Each time I make one I do something different. I have used a mix of cotton fabrics with linen and antique linen. They have been hand embroidered and appliqued. These pouches can be used for anything, pencil case, cosmetics, jewellery, hair accessories and so on.
