Yoko Saito in Florence

I was very honoured to participate in a 2 day course held by Yoko Saito in Florence, Italy, last Thursday and Friday. I was amazed and thankful she made it over here from Japan depite the terrible earthquake and tsunami they suffered the Friday before.

Yoko is a truly an amazing artist her work is impeccable. We learnt so many wonderful techniques including Un sin. I now have a different type of thimble for nearly every finger! Yoko uses a different combination of these thimbles for each technique. I had to write it all down as I can't remember what to use when!

Below are some images of work completed by students at Agomago in Florence the shop which hosted the workshop.More images of Yoko Saito's work are on flickr.

  1. Looked to be a wonderful workshop - what detailing in the beautiful work!
Have never heard of that technique - and never realised that there were different types of thimble!
Hope you had a great time!

  2. It was wonderful! If you ever have the opportunity to do a workshop with Yoko Saito I highly recommend it. I may have to take a photo of all the thimbles and blog it. I too was so surprised. Thank you for your kind words!

  3. Bonjour ,
le travail de Yoko Saito est formidable ! vous avez beaucoup de chance d'avoir assisté à son stage... sauriez-vous où trouver les modèles du quilt avec les vases et les fleurs ?
