Santa Sacks for Christmas at Dad's

For Christmas our Dad requested 10 stockings! We had 5 boys and 5 girls. Sarah made the girlie stockings and Rach made the ones for the boys. They looked fantastic hanging over dad's fireplace which of course was not lit as it's summer here in Oz!!!!

We have gone a bit stocking mad this year. We have both probably made over 20 stockings for orders, family, markets and Etsy. They are quite fun to do and we have lots more ideas which we will have to save for Christmas 2011. For now we just want to do something different as we are so over making Christmas stuff!

Christmas Decoration by Mum

Yet another lovely felt Christmas decoration by mum. Again this is made with wool felt, applique, and embroidery. Mum sold out of these at the markets.

Felt Decorations by Mum

Sorry we have been very slack in the blogging department lately. December was hectic with markets, sewing and Christmas!! Rach has been here in Australia and we just haven't stopped. There has been almost no time for sewing (other than for markets and orders) just for the pleasure of it. So here is a bit of what we have been up to.

These wonderful decorations were made by mum for our brother's house. She had them hanging on a wrought iron tree with other decorations she had made. These were made from an Italian pattern Rach gave her. I can't remember the name but can provide it if anyone needs it. They are quite large and are made from gorgeous wool felt, applique and embroidery.

Cat on the roof stocking

I finished another stocking before I left Italy but haven't had an opportunity to blog it until now. I made it with cotton and linen fabric, and embellished with felt and hand embroidery.

So many pouches and crowns

Whew an order complete. I've had a busy week running around, teaching English to 5 year olds, looking after my daughter and trying to fit in some sewing time! I made it though and will now get on completing half made goodies and new ideas. One of my favourite customers ordered these pretty pouches and crowns. I really like the crowns they are based on the one I made for Lucy, actually she designed it for me believe it or not! I must make some for my shop, Lucy loves hers and wears it all the time! I ended up making 14 pouches so some are for my shop they are not photographed here yet! More images on flickr

Girlie Pouches

I've been out of action for a few days as I had to complete a customer order. I'm back now with some new goodies! I made these pretty little pouches, same pattern as last year but different fabrics. It's amazing how using different fabrics completely creates a different style and look. I've used lovely cotton fabrics from some of my favourite designers. My stash is getting low with all this making so poor me will have to stock up in the new year!! I embellished them with a simple yoyo flower, felt leaves and a button. Very sweet! These pouches have so many uses, storing jewellery, carrying things round in ones bag and so on. More images on flickr, going on Etsy

More Patchwork cushions

Here are some more patchwork cushions. I made a few quilts which co-ordinate with this design. I had wanted to make more but unfortunately time has slipped by so I will have to make more quilts in the new year when things are quieter.

Antique linen cushion 'home'

This cushion is made on antique Italian linen. It has been embellished with felt and fabric applique, and hand embroidered.

Hand embroidered pouches with pom pom trim

Some more ideas turned into reality! I made these the other day using antique linen with pretty cotton fabrics. I hand embroidered the linen and then add some ric rac and pom pom trim. They are really sweet little purses. I want to make some more and really need to perfect inserting zips - not so easy! I was thinking these pouches are great to carry papers around in your bag, or for kids as pencil cases, clip holders, jewellery bags and so on. So many uses for them! More images on flickr

My cute little santas

I made these santas yesterday. I just loved making them I wish I had 100 hours a day to make so many more of them! There are so many ideas and possibilities and so little time, it's so frustrating! We have lovely felt here in Italy which really helps my creation process. When I love my materials they inspire me. I did make one santa with lovely French General fabric he's very cute. The santas are embellished with appplique and hand embroidered and I finished them of with a lovely moustache and felt cord. More images on flickr, going on Etsy
