Love, love, love and want

I love the bag mum made above from the colours to the fabric to the techniques she used. I really wanted to steal it when I was home in Sydney!!!!

I also love this gorgeous piece she's working on with gorgeous embroidered feathers. Would love to have popped this one in my case as well!!!!!!!

Work in progress

I'm here in Australia so my blogging will be very sporadic over the next month or so! I apologise for that.

I have srarted some new whimsical projects using antique linens and trims combined with vintage trims. I'm not sure what they will become yet only time will tell!  Here's a sneak preview!

Finally something for Lulu!

This is a little back pack I made for Lulu. It's made with antique linen and antique trims. She loves owls so I appliques an owl on a branch and them embroidered some pretty flowers here and there. The fabrics along thebottle of the bag are vintage.

Growth chart for Maddie

Last week I completed this growth chart for Maddie. She's in Australia so the chart has some sweet Australian animals - koalas, wombat and echidna. I was also asked to make it more textural so i have fun using a mix of felt, fabric, tulle and hand dyed felted wools.

Sweet pillow slips made

Here are some slips I made not long ago. Both are made with cotton fabrics combined with antique Italian handwoven hemp/linen.

I've made this style before but this time I was asked for the 2 panels to be patchwork and my customer bought a charm pack which was sent to me so I could match the slip to a quilt she already had. The colours were very soft and pretty.

This is my usual name slip but this time the letters are made with fabric not felt. More durable in time I think. I now give my cutomers the choice of felt or fabric lettering.

Sweet bunny heirlooms

The other day i was chatting to mum saying I wanted to make something but didn't know what??? Couldn't quite focus my creative energy which was flying around all confused! She suggested I make some sweet bunnies and that's exactly what i did. i would like to make more but need to focus some more energy!

I made my own pattern for these bunnies and love the way they turned out.

I used antique hemp/linen for the base, then I appliqued old fabrics, some embroidered. I did some rows of stitching and the made the bunny up.

For this bunny I also used antique Italian hemp, appliqued some old trims and fabrics and then embellished with hand dyed felted wool flowers. This one I really love!

Growth chart for Victoria

Last week I finished this chart for Victoria. Her mum had requested so many details I had to cut it down so it flowed better. I did try to include a many of her requests as possible though. This is the result!

Sweet house box pattern

I made these boxes some time ago, in fact, last July!! They are so sweet I decided to make a pattern for them as they are so much fun to make. I think they are gorgeous gifts for anyone, but especially as a baby shower gift! They are really easy to construct so anyone can make them.

I have preapred the pattern which will be in my shop today.

Growth chart for Lucas

This chart for Lucas was great fun to make! I love forest animals and had been really wanting to make a chart like this for some time!

Textural growth chart

I had the pleasure of making another textural growth chart a few weeks ago. These are so much fun as you can use all different techniques and textural fabrics. I particularly like this one as my client asked for a darker coloured background with brighter applique.

Christmas gifts made!

I'm a little late with my blogging of Christmas gifts! I made these for some of my friends and gave them at a Christmas Eve dinner. I so enjoyed making them and am hoping to make some more for myself and my shop! They were made with antique hemp linens with appliqued vintage embroideries, linens and various embellishments. They are so much prettier in true life, I photographed them when it was getting dark in the mad rush to get them finished before the dinner party!!!! isn't Christmas always a mad rush! No matter how organised I am I always get last minute crazy ideas!!!

Carlotta's messenger bag

I gave this sweet messenger bag to Lulu's friend for her birthday. Her mum asked me about a year ago and finally I made it. I didn't have much time to make it, result not the right proportions! The front is so pretty in true life so it's a shame. Carlotta's 8 and doesn't mind (probably didn't notice) so that's good. To make the front lap I used antique linens, vintage embroidered fabrics, antique laces and doilies and then I finished it off with a pretty butterfly. Oh and there's random embroidery here and there.

I had some fun with these latest growth charts for the boys! I can't tell how long I've been waiting to do a rocket theme and dragon theme on a growth chart. Finally I was asked to do them, it was so much fun!

Fun to make!!

I was chatting to my mum the other day and she gave me an idea of a different type of pouch to make. It's like a mini over the shoulder bag so useul when you don't want a big heavy bag! I can fit a phone, some keys and a little money purse.

This bag is made with a mix of lovely fabrics which have been woven and stitched together by hand. The fabrics used are antique and vintage hand embroidered combined with antique trims. It is lined with a red and white check fabric and has a zip closure.
The second bag  has been made with a lovely hand embroidered vintage fabric. It is also lined with a red and white check fabric and has a zip closure.

Linen love!

The other day I decided to tidy up my linen and antique linen off cut box. It was overflowing all over the palce and I just couldn't stand it another second! I ironed all of my bits and pieces, threw out the silly sized/shaped ones and then got to work creating. I really love the quilt as you go method so I decided to do a little of that. I made 3 gorgeous Christmas stocking (need to make more of those), a pouch and storage basket which I love love love! All are available in my shop.
