Quilted vintage embroidered cushion

This cushion is so pretty. Inspiration came from some of my Japanese craft books and the book my sister gave me for Christmas 'Embroidery Craft : Stitching through the seasons' by Vicki Haninger. It's a great book with lots of vintage inspired embroideries to do. For this cushion I found many vintage embroideries on the internet which I found to be so cute I just had to start stitching some. Two squares are hand embroidered and two are patchwork. To finish it off I hand quilted it. I used a mix of cotton and Japanese linen blend fabrics and just love the way the colours turned out.

Tooth fairy pillows

How important and exciting is that first tooth coming out! These cute and original tooth fairy pillows make it all the more special and make for a great gift too. Lulu loves hers and it's ready for her next tooth.

These pillows are made with antique linen and embellished with aplique and embroidery. On the back I have appliqued a felt tooth pocket ready to receive the tooth fairy on that special day. The pilllow also has ribbon attached ready to hang on the wall or door.

WIP- Pam Garrison Stitchery

Rach and I both bought this stitchery from Pam Garrison on Etsy. Here is Pam's original. I started by sewing a whole heap of my favourite fabrics around the edges then started the embroidery. I did the tree first which took ages because of the leaves but I am happy with how it turned out. All the embroidery stitches are pretty simple ones like satin stitch, back stitch and french knots. When I am done it will be a cushion for the couch. Can't wait to see what Rach does with hers! If you are doing one as well let us know as we would love to have a look. Here is another one on Flickr.

25 Cushions!

Then I've been busy making 25 cushions for a lovely lady who has a shop in Hawaii. This really took a while!!! I made them all on antique handwoven Italian linen with appliqued letters and flowers and embroidery. I really like the way the frangiapani cushions worked out! I have more to blog but will do it tomorrow. More images on flickr

More Patchwork cushions

Here are some more patchwork cushions. I made a few quilts which co-ordinate with this design. I had wanted to make more but unfortunately time has slipped by so I will have to make more quilts in the new year when things are quieter.

Christmas reindeers

I just love this cushions. I'm getting into the Christmas spirit very slowly, but momentum is picking up so stay tuned. I embroidered these cute reindeers on the most gorgeous antique linen. I decided to leave one end open and use pretty tortoise shell buttons to close it. It would be great to include some Christmas potpourri in the cushion too so it smells lovely.

Billycart Markets

We did another Billycart Market a couple of weeks ago and it went quite well. Here is a new cushion that I made which sold. We had quite a few new products and the responses from the people at the markets were very positive. We are now in full Christmas production mode which is really exciting. We are still planning on having non-Christmas items at our markets but there will be a lot of Christmas items as well. I have noticed that there are very few specific Christmas items at the markets so hopefully people will like what we make! There are more images of some of our new creations on Flickr.

Hand embroidered rose cushion

Here's another cushion made with an embroidery I finished last year. It's embroidered on a lovely Bellora linen. I don't know why I left it so long to make it into something, I guess I just move along from one thing to the next!

hand embroidered rose cushion

The other day I decided to go through my unfinished project box and I found this pretty rose embroidery I did last year. I'd completely forgotten about it. I had done the embroidery without any real project in mind which is probably why it stayed in the box for such a long time. I cut it up and made it into this love cushion embellished with trim. I have another little piece of embroidery which I'm go to use for a co-ordinating cushion.
