Growth chart birds and flower

I finished of this growth chart today. I made for a lovely customer who has also ordered a quilt - which I will finish over the next couple of days.

The chart is made with lovely linen and cotton fabrics. It's decorated with hand embroidery and applique. I'm really pleased with how this turned out and have ideas for a few more so hopefully I'ìll find some time to get them done!

Linen brush pouches

I made this linen brush pouches for a friend's friend. She's a nail artist and has 50 brushes to carry around. Rather than make 1 long pouch I thought it would be more practical for her to have 2 smaller ones.

They are made with lovely linen and embellished with appliqued fabrics and trims, some old. I finished them off with lovely embroidery.

Special Order

I made these bunnies for a lady in Australia who wanted some for a couple of kids. I made eight different ones so that she had some choices. They are really cute and I loved working out some different combinations of fabrics. I think that I need to get some more softies made as I have heaps of ideas both in my head and drawn on paper! With Easter holidays coming up, I might just get some time to do some sewing.

My Quilt

I am making a random quilt for my bed out of a whole bunch of quilt blocks that I like. It has been slow progress but I feel like I am getting somewhere. Here are a couple of blocks and there are more on flickr.

I am getting the designs from all over the place. The flowers above are from a Japanese book and the house is from soneone's tutorial (sorry I can't remember which blog). I will have more to come.

Great Finds at tha Sydney Craft Fair Today

The two pictures are of a quilt that my quilting teacher, Grace, made. I love how she made the owls. She sewed them completely free-hand on the sewing machine with a free-motion foot. I have never tried to do this before but went out and bought this type of foot today so am hoping to start doing some. It will also be handy to machine quilt my quilts. I think that I will get a lot of use out of it.

Today I went to a craft fair and found some new goodies. I brought quite a few fabrics and they were mostly in spring pastel colours. I also found some great ric-rac that was hand dyed. i couldn't help myself and bought quite a lot. I also bought some hand dyed threads. This will hopefully all come in handy, later in the year when I take part in a Sue Spargo class at Material Obsession.

French inspired bag

I finished off this bag this morning. My daughter Lucy (she's 6) helped me co-ordinate the fabrics. I used beautiful antique linen/hemp for the base and made a front pocket with some Moda's Etchings range. I appliqued some beautiful antique trim I have and then embroidered a monogram.

Lots of goodies made for orders

I have been very bad at blogging lately because I had a lot of Easter orders to send off urgently. Here some of the bags and bunnies I made. I love when customers ask me for colour variations as new creations come out of them. The above bags are blues purples with a little pink.

Lovely bunnies with their bags!

I love the red and blue bags she asked for!

These bunnies went with bags too, in colours already posted.

The copycat is back!

She has re opened un the name of Fairytale Garden (MeseKert ajánlott - in Hungarian)! Let's hope she comes up with some original ideas and stops copying people. She didn't just copy me she copied others as I recognised other articles but can't remember whose they are. I'll be keeping an eye on her to make sure she's not copying my work or the work of any other of our creative friends!!!

For some reason the link is not working on her shop name so here it is http://meska.hu/Shop/index/10027

The silly woman has visited my blog a million times today and keep stopping the link. I'll keep correcting it but if by some chance it doesn't work just copy and past it in the address bar. She obviously intends to keep on copying people. I figured out who the bunnies were from she copied I'm going to contact them and give them a warning too.

Great weekend!

Wow such a great weekend! Saturday I was up at 5am (again!) to head off to the Spring edition of the craft fair in Vicenza. I went with 3 other girls and we had a great time. It was better than I had anticipated and of course I bought plenty. I could have bought more but keep myself under control. I can't wait to find time to make some new creations. I bought a lot of pretty trims as we can't find much in our area. It's really great to go to these fair with other people as they lead you to places you may not have stopped which is not so great for the bank account! In fact I found the most amazing book of monograms I've ever seen!

Sunday was another great day - the anique market was on! Love it!!! I bought many precious goodies I just couldn't help myself.

My new goodies!
Lovely emboridered pieces, some vintage linen and antique hemp.

More embroidered lovelies.

The most gorgeous fine linen hand towels.
