Gera Cross-Stitch

I just found Gera's blog by Kayoko Maruoka and whilst it is in Japanese I absolutely lover her cross-stitch. It is so cute. I haven't done cross-stitch in ages but now I want to do some!! I will have to buy some of her patterns. They are available at the Superbuzzy store. I have seen some of these in my Stitch Ideas magazines, they are great.

Vintage Finds

The two vintage embroideries below are from Peppergreen in Berrima. If you like this type of stuff and are in the Southern Highlands in NSW it's worth a visit. They also have great antiques. You can spend hours in there!

I went to the Wenthworth Park Antique Markets today and found these great vintage embroideries and linen (images below). They were quite cheap. Several stores had antique embroideries at different prices. Some were are bargain and some were a rip-off! It's only on once a month so probably worth a look each time.
The blue one is fully hand-embroidered. There is also some embroidery on the back which is the same as the front. Apparently it is a Vintage Polish Kitchen hanging. A rough translation of the words are "Where love and understanding- you find a happy place". I am not sure what I want to do with it yet but I thought that it was beautiful so bought it. It is quite large and has two sides so for $30 was a bargain!

I bought the vintage striped linen in the photo below from the same girl. I think it's a table cloth which is about 1.8m x 1.65m. Got it for $25 and will not keep it as a table cloth but rather use to to make things and embroider on. I also got some ribbon and ric-rac.

Jamie really liked the doggy one so I got that. I thought that Rach would really like the little bird. I actually had another two good ones in my hand but put the down (silly me) to look in another pile and some woman snapped them up and bought them before I got a chance! Should have kept them in my hand!!!

Rach- This is the market that I wanted to take you too. You would have loved it!!

Easter bags and bunny

When I was making my order I made a couple of extra bags for my shop.

I also made this cute bunny softie. I'd been wanting to make one for a while and finally here she is. I used antique linen for her body. The pretty pink fabric (for her head) is my antique linen which I hand dyed. The heart is wool fabric which I felted and also hand dyed. I'm going to make some more of these little rabbits for my shop. They are great Easter presents but also make for really cute baby shower gifts. This one is a gift for my best customer who just placed a large order. I always like to give her something as a little thank you gift!

I have been busy making an order which is why I haven't blogged for a while. Thank goodness Sas decided to blog her beautiful Sue Spargo quilt she's making. I can't wait to see more!
So I have finished 15 Easter baskets, 6 crown with matching wands, 3 cushions and several other goodies. The cushions are felt and fabric appliue with embroidery on antique hand woven Italian linen/hemp. I have included a few images here the rest are on flickr.
