Mmmmm.... yummy lavender

I love lavender. I love fresh lavender growing on the plant and I love, love, love dried lavender. With the arrival of Spring and the warmer temperatures my desire for pretty colours has arrived too. Today I made these gorgeous lavender bags with pretty trim and handmade flowers. I used linen for the front of the bags (some antique) and pretty cottons for the back. I then made co-ordinating flowers which I made as brooches, so they are simply pinned to the trim which holds closed the bags. This way the flowers can double up as brooches and should the lavender loose its perfume it can be replaced. More images on flickr, going on Etsy.

Antique linen storage basket - lilac florals

I made this pretty storage basket today using my pretty new floral design. It is made with beautiful antique linen which gives it such lovely texture. I decorated the basket with machine appliqued flowers and lined it with a Japanese linen cotton mix in a natural colour. I took the shape of the basket from my Japanese Organisers book ISBN 978-4277-431170 but the dimensions are my own. I wanted it to be bigger than the book s as they are quite small. It is great for sotring anything - wool, sewing projects, towels, toys, potatoes and so much more. More images on flickr, going on Etsy.

Floral tote

With Spring on it's way I've been wanting to make some new fresh bags. Looking on the internet I saw some Japanese applique and machine embroidery in this style which totally inspired me. I have alot of gorgeous antique linen for which Ive been wanting to find new uses. I also bought some charm packs from the Fat Quarter Shop for applique. This tote is what I came up with yesterday. I love it and want to make more with all different colour combinations. I was also thinking of adapting this design to place mats, oven mits, cushions and even pin cushions. Very ambitious I know lets hope I find the time!

Lulu's new crown

Lulu's new crown - Lucy my 4 year old fancies herself a bit of a princess! She's always dressing up and has a hot pink feather boa. Hot pink by the way is her most favourite colour! She's been asking me to make her a crown for ages and me being the vagabond I am never got round to it! So a few Saturdays ago I took her to the art supply shop, we bought the supplies we needed and when we got home she designed the crown just how she wanted it.

I made the crown following her guidelines very closely! I got into trouble though as my points were not as long as hers, but I had to make them shorter so they wouldn't flop! The hearts and flowers are positioned exactly as she designed them. She even placed the little buttons on the hearts. Overall very pretty I think. Now Lulu can be the 'perfect princess'!!!

Pretty hair clips

I made some pretty hair clips today, I've wanting to make some for a long time and finally got around to it. Each one is different to the other but co-ordinate. I used felt, fabric and gorgeous buttons. All are hand sewn and embroidered no glue involved!

Cute Easter wreath

I hadn't considered making an Easter wreath this year but then I saw this gorgeous pale pink wicker wreath and thought that needs to be embellished. I'm always amazed when materials give mean such a sense of inspiration! I made different flowers with tulle and cotton fabrics and then added buttons. This wreath has turned out to be very soft and pretty. I have another wreath to make so I will post it as soon as it's finished. Going on Etsy, more images on flickr

Mathilda's Markets

Here is a photo of my Mathilda's Market stall from today. I shared the stall with a friend of mine. It's the first time that I have had a market stall and I was pleased with how it went with many sales. I am hoping to do another one and heaps of ideas of new things to make. It was quite fun and I am looking forward to doing another one. More photos on Flickr.

Easter madness!

Finally I have found the time to finish and photograph my latest Easter baskets. So here they are in all their colourful glory! Going on Etsy, more images on flickr
