Christmas presents made!

Every year I give the ladies in my husband's family a present made by me. As i live in Italy and most of them are amazing cooks so I decided to make aprons with co-ordinating pot holders. The measurements for the aprons came from the Christmas edition of Cotton time 2009 but I embellished them as I wanted. I used all kinds of different fabrics including many from Ikea which lend themselves to this kind of thing very well. More aprons on flickr.

Welcome to the world Anita!!!

Meet Ms Magoo she now belongs to little Anita who was born about a month ago. She's absolutely gorgeous. Ms Magoo was made from Melly and Me's Mr Magoo pattern. She's made from antique Italian linen and is really very cute!

I also gave Anita and her mum this nappy bag, bottle holder and cat rattle, They are also made with antique linen combined with other cotton and linen fabrics. The cat is also from a Melly and me pattern. Their patterns are fabulous so easy to follow. More images on flickr

Pin Cushion

I had some scraps of fabic left over from Jamie's pillow so decided to make up a new pin cushion, this morning. The problem with the old one was that the pins used to poke through the bottom and needles got lost in the cushion. To solve this problem I cut a piece of template plastic and placed it inside the cushion near the bottom so the pins can't stick through the bottom. I put some stuffing underneath and on top of the plastic so the cushion still feels soft. It works well! There is a photo of the back of the cushion on Flickr.

Jamie's New Pillow

I stitched this quite a while ago and have finally made it up into a pillow for Jamie. He has put it on his bed so he can sleep with it tonight. I got some of the embroider ideas from a Japanese Sewing book that Rach gave me and some from my own head. More photos on Flickr.

Jamie's Santa Sack

Jamie wanted a new Santa sack with dinosaurs. Chrstmas and dinosaurs don't really go together but if you chuck a Santa hat on top, anything can go with Christmas. I started by painting the calico background with acrylic paints then sewed the dinosaur's, name, lava and coconuts in felt. The back (see photo on flickr) is a fabric that Rach sent me. Jamie loves it. He has already hung it out, ready for Santa to fill.

Pretty scarves

Here are some new scarves I made. I used different fabrics including wools, cottons and linen in very pretty soft colours. I then appliqued fabrics and trim and did a little embroidery. The scarves are both backed with a lovely soft Max Mara linen. More images on flickr , on Etsy

Amazing hand embroidered cushions

Well what can I say.! The other day I received a parcel from my mum with 3 more embroideries to make up as cushions. I mean I know she's an incredible embroiderer (and great with colour) but everytime I see her work I'm amazed at its beauty. To start with she uses beautiful fabric, usually linen. Then she starts to embroider with amazing threads including embroidery wools, silks and cottons, oh and beads sometimes. All I can say is keep up the good work mum! More images on flickr, on Etsy

Mathilda's Markets 2010

I have just applied for my first market stall at Mathilda's Markets on 6th March 2010 at Paddington Town Hall. I am doing the stall with a friend from my son's day care centre who has a business called Tynili. She makes girls clothes, dress-ups and nappy change mats. She has just set up a blog and will get some photos on it soon. It's much easier sharing a stall with someone so there is not too much pressure on me to get heaps of stuff ready. I hope that we get in and actually get a stall. I have also applied for the second one on 2nd May at Riverview.
They are fantatic markets and all over Australia so if you don't live in Sydney you can check them out in the other capital cities. Click on the icon above or on our side bar to go to their website.
